According to a recent study by the American Psychological Association, almost one third of kids suffer from stress that manifests physically in the form of headaches, stomach aches, and more.

But one day after school as I walked him back from the bus stop, I asked him, "How's dismissal going? Are you still nervous about it every day?" His response was just a shrug and a, "No, it doesn't bother me anymore." SUCCESS!! With just a few minutes of Tapping, he had released the stress and anxiety he'd been dealing with every day about dismissal.

I emailed his teacher that night, who was also keenly aware of his stress about the end of day routine, and she confirmed that he had been acting and feeling completely differently over the last few days.

"Tapping" works by sending a calming signal to the amygdala, an almond-shaped part of the brain that controls our reactions to stressful situations. Cortisol levels were measured before and after treatment

83 participants were divided into 3 groups:
The 1st group received an hour of Tapping; the 2nd group received an hour of psychotherapy ("talk" therapy); the 3rd group (control group) received no treatment.

The researchers measured cortisol levels before and after the treatment. Cortisol was measured because it is known as the "stress hormone" of the body. As stress goes up, cortisol levels go up.

The Results...
The 1st group (Tapping) demonstrated on average a 24% decrease in cortisol levels(some were even as high as 50%); the 2nd and 3rd groups showed no change in cortisol levels.

The reality is that psychotherapy alone relieves stress, but over a long period of time. The immediate benefits of psychotherapy don't register in your body, where excessive amounts of the "stress hormone" cortisol still run rampant, preventing you from being able to think clearly and make good decisions.
