Making Life Easy Masterclass:

About Making Life Easy

by Christiane Northrup, M.D.

Making Life Easy

Making life flow, and truly feeling your best, is about far more than physical health; it’s also about having a healthy emotional life and a robust spiritual life. And this is what makes the efforts of modern medicine incomplete.

As Dr. Northrup explains, our current medical system treats symptoms as inconveniences to be masked with drugs or eliminated with surgery—but that’s like putting duct tape over the “check engine” light on your dashboard instead of looking under the hood to see what the engine needs. This joyfully encouraging new book helps you lift the hood on your own life and health.

Drawing on fields from astrology to past-life regression to the new science of epigenetics to standard Western medicine, Dr. Northrup distills a brilliant career’s worth of wisdom into one comprehensive user’s guide to a healthy, happy, radiant life.

Ever since medical school, Dr. Christiane Northrup has been guided by an essential truth about the way our bodies, minds, and souls are intertwined. It’s the same truth Edgar Cayce expressed in this famous formula: The Spirit is Life. The Mind is the Builder. The Physical is the Result.

When we don’t grasp this—when we view our bodily well-being in isolation—life can devolve into constant worry about our health and constant battling to make our bodies “behave.”

When we acknowledge the deep connection between our beliefs and our biology and start to tune in to the Divine part of ourselves, it’s a whole new ballgame—and the first step in truly making our lives easy.

A Note from Dr. Christiane Northrup about Making Life Easy

Much of what I’m going to teach you in this book is not logical, so chances are good that your logical left brain will find this information challenging. That part of you will always want scientific proof. But life doesn’t work that way. We’re here to develop faith—faith in things that our five senses can’t see, touch, hear, or feel, and that our intellects can’t prove. We’ve all been trained to believe that randomized double-blind controlled studies will keep us safe and tell us what to do. But clinging to logical, rational linear thinking is what keeps life hard. Waiting for some authority other than our Divine connection to tell us what to do keeps us stuck in victimhood and pain.

Think of this book as an owner’s manual for bringing heaven down to earth. When you learn to align with your Divine self, your life becomes easier. You have access to guidance that will take you in the right direction. You’re able to make choices that are in your best interest. Things will simply flow, and you’ll be happy and filled with peace.

Standard Western medicine is based on obsolete thinking—the old Newtonian cause-and-effect model. You are exposed to a germ, you get sick. It’s a formula. There is no magic in it. Modern medicine uses statistics and large populations to create these formulas, and it treats us all according to demographics and the “herd mentality.” If you’re 50, you need a colonoscopy because that’s when your colon starts to break down. The belief is that your body is a machine that is not connected to your thoughts, your emotions, or your Spirit. If you take good care of it, it should work—until it doesn’t. Because, like all machines, it will wear out. And there is absolutely nothing you can do about it.

So this is the idea that was being preached to me throughout medical school, throughout my residency, throughout the beginning of my career. While I felt that this couldn’t be true, it’s hard to argue against it when you’re exhausted and frazzled from working and studying nonstop.

So if you want good health in your physical body, you also need to look to the health of your emotional and spiritual bodies. When you do this, every part of your life will simply start to flow, smoothly and easily. That’s what this book is about: making life easy.

In these pages, you’ll see just how the Spirit, the mind, and the body are connected and how caring for one means you are caring for the others. With simple exercises and practical advice, I’ll teach you how to bolster your physical health not by simply eating well and moving regularly—though these are a part of it—but also by listening to the voice of your Soul and tapping into Divine guidance.

But life doesn’t have to be like this. It doesn’t have to be nearly as hard as most of us make it. All it takes is a shift of perspective, a move to taking the bigger view. I’ve known this for years—lifetimes, in fact—and the time has finally come for me to share what I’ve always known about how to make your life easy. That’s what this book is about.

The essence of everything you will learn in these pages comes down to this: To live an easy life, you have to align with the Divine part of yourself. In fact, you have to let it lead your life. This is not the same as waiting for some kind of Divine force outside of you to come swooping in to rescue you from your life. That’s not how it works. You have to make an effort to make changes. But when you align your personal will with Divine will, then you can move mountains.

You truly do have the power to make your life easy on all levels. So often, the key to creating your own personal heaven on earth is deliberately and consciously letting your Spirit take the lead. If you do that, you will know just how to create the life you want. If, on the other hand, you believe that you have no power, that your problems are caused by bad luck, bad genes, or the wrong family, then there truly isn’t much that will work out very well for you over the long haul.

The work of this book is simple and easy. The only challenge comes from the fact that your ego wants to be in charge instead of learning to be of service to your Divine self. But that’s what this book will teach you. It takes a little discipline and focus, but, believe me, you can’t even imagine how beautiful it can be.

But as time wore on, I could no longer ignore the calls coming from deep down inside me. I couldn’t, in good conscience, just cover up symptoms with drugs or surgical procedures. I had to do better for my patients. I had to get back to what I had known when I began: No part of us can be completely healthy unless every part of us is. The Spirit, the mind, and the body cannot be separated.

If you’ve read any of my other books or followed my work, you probably think of me as a Western-trained ob/gyn physician and surgeon who has been offering women effective alternatives to drugs and surgery for decades. I’ve been working to help people think about their health and their bodies in a more empowered way. What you may not know is that from the time I was a teenager I’ve been enthralled with all things spiritual and metaphysical—the forces that cannot be seen but that influence us profoundly.

Though conversations about angels, reincarnation, and Spirit guides are not standard in the hospitals and clinics where I’ve spent decades, I have come to the conclusion that life without spiritual understanding, especially when you’re faced with pain or loss, is very difficult. Unless we understand that there is a much bigger picture that requires faith, we are too often left feeling like powerless victims of forces beyond our control. We slowly start to believe that “Life’s a bitch and then you die.”
