Charlene Scott is a Psychotherapist and the Clinical Director of Mindful Therapy Center.  Charlene has been trained in Clinical Emotional Freedom Techniques (EFT).  EFT has been shown through research to gently and swiftly release traumatic events that contribute to distressing memories, anxiety/depression, phobias, addictions/cravings and unhelpful core beliefs about oneself.  Traumatic events (“big” or “small”) can negatively influence how you see the world, experience emotions, and relate to others.  As of January 2018, over 50 randomized controlled trials, 100 research studies, meta-analyses and peer reviewed articles have shown the effectiveness of this treatment.  Charlene is amazed every day by the power of EFT when working with clients!

How does it work?  Stimulation of the acupressure points sends a calming signal to the brain while a person processes events that are distressing.  This reorganizes associations made with the distressing event in the brain leading to relief and long-term benefits.  It reduces trauma reactivity and desensitizes the emotional intensity attached to an event, feeling, or belief.  This works simply and scientifically through a method called psychological exposure.  Pairing the soothing physical stimulus with the troublesome memory often releases the emotional intensity our brain has related to the event. Our nervous system no longer associates the memory with stress.

If you are wondering if EFT could help with your particular struggles, do not hesitate to reach out to Charlene directly.
