How to Really Get What You Want, and Why Tapping for Patience can Help
Written by Nick Ortner
Have you heard this one before?
“I’ve tried everything and I’ve done everything, but I just can’t get what I want!”
It would be shocking if you hadn’t heard it, as it’s sadly an all-too familiar cry. Actually, because you’re reading this, there’s a good chance you feel that way yourself.
Why can’t you get what you want?
Over the last decade, you’ve probably been exposed to so many practices and perspectives to help you envision and ultimately get what you want: the law of attraction, vision boards, lists of goals and yes, even EFT tapping. They’re all incredibly fantastic tools, but we often forget that one special ingredient that’s so necessary to attaining our personal goals and dreams:
Patience.
If the mere sight of that word makes you sigh or even grit your teeth, it’s something you might want to think about. Here’s how tapping can help.
How EFT Can Help You Conquer Impatience Once and For all!
If you’ve undergone a tremendous amount of personal growth and done a lot of work to erase bad habits and limiting beliefs so you could really focus on how to get what you want out of life, then waiting for it all to manifest can feel really difficult.
During this time, our doubts can creep up on us, and one of the most common forms they take is impatience – that gnawing desperation to see our visions become real.
Sadly, it’s this very same impatience that can derail us, making us react out of fear or fail to stay the course in the direction of our dreams.
Thankfully, tapping is a perfect way to deal with this. You may have used EFT to help you hone in on your vision, and similarly, you can use it to fully tune into those nagging fears that are making you so impatient. Once you’ve done that, you can get rid of them for good!
Start by embracing all the thoughts and feelings that went into you envisioning how to get what you want. Next, dive right into those fears that are popping up, the ones that are making you so anxious. Rate them on a scale of 1 to 10, then, start by tapping on your karate chop point:
- Even though I’m feeling so impatient, I deeply and completely love and accept myself
- Even though I’m finding it so hard to be patient, I deeply and completely love and accept myself
- Even though I’m feeling very impatient, I deeply and completely love and accept myself
Then, tap through the points.
Eyebrow: I’m feeling so impatient
Side of Eye: Why is it taking so long?
Under Eye: it’s happening for everyone else
Under Nose: Why not me?
Chin Point: This feeling of impatience
Collar Bone: Why is it taking so long?
Under Arm: I want it now
Top of Head: I’m doing everything right
Back to the eyebrow…
Eyebrow: I’m trying my hardest
Side of Eye: Why isn’t it happening?
Under Eye: It’s happening for everyone else
Under Nose: But not for me
Chin Point: Are my dreams ever going to come true?
Collar Bone: Am I ever going to get what I want?
Under Arm: It’s taking so long
Top of Head: All of this impatience
How do you feel? Has the feeling subsided? You might want to repeat this round, adding any thoughts that come to mind. Once you’ve brought the feeling down a bit, start again at the eyebrow.
Eyebrow: I choose to replace this impatience with persistence
Side of Eye: I replace my impatience with persistence
Under Eye: I have faith that it’s just right around the corner
Under Nose: I choose to make this easy
Chin Point: I choose to let my dreams come true
Collar Bone: I choose to have faith in divine timing
Under Arm: I choose to have patience
Top of Head: Because I know it’s going to happen
Eyebrow: I can feel it in my body
Side of Eye: My dreams are already coming true
Under Eye: I can sense it
Under Nose: I don’t need to worry
Chin Point: I just need to be patient
Collar Bone: And I can be patient while I have fun
Under Arm: I can be patient while I relax
Top of Head: My dreams are coming true
Eyebrow: I choose to replace my impatience with persistence
Side of Eye: I choose to make it fun
Under Eye: I choose to believe in divine timing
Under Nose: I choose to know that it’s right around the corner
Chin Point: I choose to relax
Collar Bone: I choose to make this fun
Under Arm: I choose to replace my impatience with persistence
Top of Head: And add a little fun
Feel free to return to this routine, as much as you want. It can really help you calm yourself when your patience starts to wear thin and the doubts crop up, telling you that you can’t get what you want and envisioned.
Remember – you deserve all that you’ve dreamed about. It’s out there waiting for you, so don’t be afraid to wait for it!
Hi Nick
Thanks for your post on tapping for impatience… this really resonates with me, as I’m sure things are just around the corner but it is frustrating – having to wait for all the goodies! lol… Will try this out soon and let you know of any results 🙂
Thanks again
Hayley
